Canada firm Lomiko Metals Inc. has revealed new, high-grade results from its exploration program at the Yellow Fox Antimony property, pointing to a significant new rare earth element (REE) discovery. The findings come from a follow-up analysis of soil samples collected earlier this year.
Initial soil sampling had already identified strong anomalies of the rare earths Cerium and Lanthanum. Encouraged by those results, the company selected seven samples for an expanded, specialized assay to test for the full suite of REEs. The new data revealed unexpectedly high concentrations of several magnet-critical metals.
The re-assayed samples returned total rare earth oxide (TREO) values ranging from 1,697 parts per million (ppm) to 5,176 ppm (0.52%). They showed highly elevated levels of Neodymium (186–890 ppm) and Praseodymium (46–192 ppm), two elements essential for manufacturing high-strength permanent magnets. The samples also contained notable amounts of Dysprosium (36–191 ppm), a key heavy rare earth used to improve magnet performance at high temperatures.
Eastern Zone
“We were very pleased with the high Cerium and Lanthanum values, but these expanded results are even more encouraging,” stated Gordana Slepcev, CEO of Lomiko Metals. “Seeing these strong Dysprosium, Neodymium, and Praseodymium numbers, approaching the grades from our rock samples, prompts us to re-run more samples with the full REE test suite. We need to see if this high-value mineralization extends across the entire zone.”
The newly identified REE anomalies are hosted within the Mount Peyton monzogranite and appear to run parallel to previously outlined antimony, zinc, lead, and silver soil anomalies. Lomiko has now delineated two primary zones:
-
An eastern zone approximately 175 meters wide and 1,000 meters long.
-
A larger western zone roughly 400-500 meters wide and 1,300 meters long.
Combined, the anomalous trend extends for about 2,300 meters. The largest single soil anomaly measures approximately 500 meters wide and extends for a minimum of 1,300 meters.
New Dimension to Yellow Fox Property
This REE potential adds a new dimension to the Yellow Fox property, which Lomiko optioned from Metals Creek Resources in January 2025. The 2025 exploration program was initially designed to target critical base and precious metals. The discovery of parallel, high-strength REE anomalies within the same geological unit significantly enhances the project’s strategic value.
The company plans immediate follow-up work, including re-assaying additional soil samples with the specialized REE package to better define the scope and consistency of this new discovery.
